Observations

In Friday's pre-season battle between the Eagles and Patriots. John Lynch was abused like a red headed step-child...with one leg at that. He was burnt on a punt return that showcased his two most glaring deficiencies (no closing speed, lack of quickness to utilize the angle). Good job Genius.

Check out this article on what Pat fans should be worrying about.

& what Charger fan should be worrying about.

Here, at HATE, we advocate for Shawne Merriman taking the course of action that will ready him for the playoffs. You wanna get paid? Show 'em your guts! This is 2008 and medicine has come too far for a 24 year old to have his career ended by a knee injury (look at Willis McGahee coming back after his knee injury (2003?), it was horrific, so don't tell us that 5 additional years of medical innovation won't save young Merriman).

If the career is threatened? SM has shown that his construction company will make him some nice coin (thanks for the contributions to SD after the wild fires Mr. Merriman!....now get your ass on the field and start hunting some Pseudo-Patriots!) .

A word of warning for Mr. Lightswitch:

Football players are meant to be tough. They aren't meant to stay on the sidelides. See here LT's major reputation hit for staying out of last year's season ender, while Rivers' "grit" boosted his lockerroom leadership cred.

But would LT have driven the Chargers to victory? Could Billy V have stepped in and outplayed a wounded Rivers?

Just look at the Trojan's John David Booty. He broke his finger in last year's game v. Stanford. Did he whine? No. Did he fly around the country collecting medical opinions and leaving his team in doubt? No. He's a leader. He got on with it. He fought through the pain and charged back out onto the field...

...and threw a couple of picks to a god-awful team whose mascot is a friggin tree. Down went the game. Down went the National Championship. Way to be tough and show you're a gamer!

If Merriman can play at pro-bowl level, then get his arse on the field. If not, get out. We don't need him. We've got depth. We already have to play D with ten men (what with Wilhelm layed out on the field near the ILB position all the time.) The DB's and D-line don't need to babysit another tough guy.

I will tell you this though... I have it from and inside source that the Merri-est of men will be pursuing the latest in greatest in the worlds of modern medicine... I will keep you all updated but he is possibly going to be dealing with a machine that can make an injury heal as fast aformentioned charger fills a hole... I will keep you posted, your job is to keep the hope!
