Indecision 2008: The Ombudsvenger Weighs-In

As we close in on the final hours before Election Day, this avenger pauses to wonder what has happened to the democratic process of our once great nation. While the election’s result will undoubtedly produce better leadership than we currently endure, the lack of choice available to the average citizen, and the government’s departure from its original scope and intent makes me want to avenge every American who has ever died for their country.

Choose your issue, lady-vengers and venger-men, and then fall in line with the party that claims to support your position. Pay no attention to the fact that regardless of whom you back, more will be taken from you and given as gifts to those at the bottom, who do nothing to earn it, (and add zero value to society in general), and those at the very top, who have the knowledge and means to bend and buy the system to their advantage. Never mind that you will work harder and longer hours for a currency that is worth ever less. Don’t concern yourself that not only you but your spouse as well must undertake this mission if you want to take part in the American Dream. And keep a stiff upper lip when your children are sacrificed in faraway lands for vague foreign policy strategies and the protection of corporate wealth-it’s for the good of the country, trust us.

Well I for one do NOT trust you, demicans and rebublicocrats. Because I do not believe that you are looking out primarily for my best interests nor those of any middle class American. Of course, not every single politician is corrupt or has evil intentions for the majority of the citizenry, but rather that they are caught in a system, (the two–party system), where the primary aim of each party is to stay in power, not necessarily to solve the problems of the country in the most logical and efficient manner possible. This is not what the founding fathers had in mind when they crafted that wonderful document that is the true basis for our freedom. Because of this the Ombudsvenger concurs with the AIC in the notion that no vote is a wasted one if cast with conviction. The best, and only, thing we can do is inform ourselves of all the options available to us, and choose based upon our conscience, rather than the fear of the “lesser evil”.
